Diagnosis: The First Step on Your Path to Fertility
With the right diagnosis, your chances of becoming pregnant increase significantly. At PRO VITA, your diagnosis begins with your first visit to one of our fertility centers.
Infertility is diagnosed through an extensive and comprehensive infertility workup on both partners, when necessary. In the woman, the tests focus on whether or not she is ovulating and any undiagnosed abnormalities in her fallopian tubes or uterus such as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID); in men, a physical exam and lab work are used to rule out impediments to male fertility, including low sperm count.
Chances are you and/or your partner have already seen a physician about your fertility issues, and you may have had some preliminary lab work done. Bring those results and your complete medical records to your first appointment so one of our fertility specialists can review them and discuss your reproductive history. All of our staff physicians are triple board-certified in OB/GYN, reproductive endocrinology and infertility, improving your chances of a proper diagnosis.
A crucial part of the diagnosis process for women is a thorough physical exam, including a transvaginal ultrasound and blood work. The physical exam and ultrasound can check for tubal and pelvic disease as well as cervical issues. Other diagnostic tests include a saline infusion sonogram (SIS), Basal Antral Follicle Count and hysterosalpingography. Ovulatory dysfunction can be revealed through hormonal blood tests like Cycle Day 3 and Day 21 testing.
With the right diagnosis, beautiful new beginnings can be created at PRO VITA. We're dedicated to helping you achieve your dreams of pregnancy and parenthood.
